Did you hear about a new bill that was passed in December 2015? You MAY be entitled to a possible refund of the Michigan Transfer Tax!
The Michigan Transfer tax is required to be paid by a seller when you sell a home. However, a recent bill that went into effect in December 2015 may make you eligible for a refund. A refund may apply when the SEV at the time of sale is less than or equal to the original SEV when you bought the home.
For example:
If you bought the home in 2010, the SEV was $47,000
If you sold the home in 2015, the SEV was $41,000
Estimated possible refund amount from Transfer Tax: $738.75
